Glenn has a background in the aviation industry as a Commercial
Pilot and Flight Instructor. He was also Manager at Auckland
Observatory and has been involved in science education in Astronomy
for the last 30 years.
Glenn is a dynamic, entertaining speaker with a
passion for astronomy and
cosmology. He is an accomplished conference and convention
speaker. Glenn bring’s a refreshing and unique flavour to his
presentations which both inspire and enthral his audiences. |

Research Astronomer & Extra Solar
Planet Hunter, Astronomy Educator, Member and Officer of the Royal
Astronomical Society of New Zealand and the Auckland Astronomical
Society

With a life time passion in astronomy,
Jennie joined the Auckland Astronomical Society in 1990 and in 1994
became part of the Astronomical Education team at Auckland Stardome
Observatory and for 6 years hosted News Talk ZB's popular live talk
back show,
The Astronomy Hour.
Her home observatory, Farm Cove
Observatory, was built in 2000 to contribute collaborative
astronomical research data on Cataclysmic Variable Stars to the
Centre for Backyard Astrophysics (CBA) at Columbia University, New
York and in 2004 was the first amateur astronomer to join the
professional MicroFUN team at Ohio State University to search for
extra-solar planets.
Since then, she has been involved in
the co-discovery of 11 extra solar planets including the first solar
system analog. In 2009 she discovered her first Asteroid - 2009SA1

Jennie and
Glenn are both highly experienced Astronomy Educators. Jennie is the
first (amateur) woman to have co- discovered a planet outside our Solar
System and in 2006, she was awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit for her
services to New Zealand Astronomy.
